Got back from a great lunch yesterday in the belly of London, to meet a lovely chap wanting to get out of the big smoke for the sake of a life in some wooded part of the country doing what makes him buzz and seeing more of his kids.
Reading “Management Today” 40th Anniversary Edition. Great article on the rise of the business woman got me thinking about all of the following and how to juggle them within my life;
marriage - family - children - ambition - passion - cup cakes iced with children’s names - business growth - cash flow (home and business) - talent management - company strategy - communication - Naomi's recorder lessons - bicycle trailers - my fitness and health - homework in Yr 2 - washing school uniform - computer systems - my leaking flat roof and proposed extension - cooking apples on my baby tree - growing my relationship with my husband - spending enough time with each of our four children - developing myself in business and in motherhood - super nanny - my morphing role at work…
How many others are there out there thinking the same thing and being driven by the same desires to succeed at home and in the business world? It is a juggling act that takes a lot of skill, and I am not surprised at the numbers tabled, showing the proportions of females in senior management positions.
Men and women have to juggle different issues, and have different priorities and driving forces. There are just as many pressures on men, just different ones. The struggles that we both have to face in life are different and equally valid. I am very fortunate to be married to a man who understands what it’s like to be at home with small children, and that sometimes coming to the office can be a ‘break’ from that highly charged life.
I am not really into “Men are from Mars, Women from Venus” I feel that we all have different; lives, families, jobs, responsibilities and pressures. Judging people and pigeon holing them is not helpful. I feel that we should just all give each other time, encouragement, space to breath and grace. That makes the world go round a lot more smoothly if distributed generously.
Having a online home business is an excellent option for mothers or fathers that stay home with young children. Not only does it allow them to spend more time with their children, but they are earning an income as well. Doing work from home makes it easier to deal with everyday life. There are doctor's appointments, errands that need to be taken care of, emergencies, etc. http://www.millionairebusinessideas.com

You can offer practically any kind of service using the internet. You just have to make sure there is a market for it and that you can actually fulfill job orders. Some of the most common internet jobs involve clerical jobs such data entry, performing tasks as a virtual assistant, web development, word processing, telemarketing, book keeping and others. You can work as a copy writer, be a sales representative or even become a pro-blogger. You can set up a business that targets clients in your own town or people halfway around the globe.

I have much to learn from you Lydia as I get ready to add to the "complications" in my life!
I was sent a book to review, which you should take a look at. (I'll be posting a review and a podcast with author Mary Hunt in the next couple of weeks). It is called "In Women We Trust" and it is about marketing to women. But really, it is about what it is like to be a women today - I kept saying "yes! yes!" as I read it. You probably can't get it in the UK yet, but you can order here: www.WMEBooks.com.
